In a New York City-Amazon has filed an appeal of a historic union vote. One week after Amazon warehouse staff in New York City made history by voting to create a union. The tech giant is asking for a rerun of the election in a filing filed on Friday.
Amazon (AMZN) says in its application to the U.s. Department Of Labor that the independent federal agency’s regional office is in Staten Island. Known as JFK8, it “unfairly and illegally aided the [Amazon Labor Union’s] success.”
It alleges the agency calculated whether ALU had enough support to hold an election. Using an “artificially lower number” of workers in the voting unit.

Is NLRB and the ALU improperly suppressed !

ALU is a popular labor firm formed by present and former employees of the facility. It is also accused of behaving, according to Amazon. It argues the ALU illegally intimidated staff and “made threats against its critics,” among other things.

“Given the facts we’ve seen so far, as set out in our objections. We believe the NLRB and the ALU improperly suppressed and affected the vote.
The Staten Island election was the first time in the company’s history that a group of US workers successfully . All of the NLRB’s efforts against Amazon have been in keeping with that House directive.”
Last week, Amazon expressed its sadness with the Staten Island results. While Amazon has stated that “workers have always had the choice of whether or not to join a union.” The company also spent $4.3 million on an anti-union council last year and utilized anti-union actions.

Amazon’s behavior at the factory had previously forced the RWDSU to submit many unfair labor practice complaints. One complaint focused on required group sessions in which Amazon officials noted their anti-union stance to employees. Which the union claimed violated employees’ freedom to refrain from organizing-related actions.
Even though these forced meetings are a usual policy . General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo of the NLRB sent a memo on Thursday urging the agency to change its stance. It’s on obligatory meetings of this sort.
