Alexa has long wanted to be a digital butler, and she’s coming closer to that objective today. When a person or package is near your video camera or security camera, Amazon’s voice assistant may now announce it. If you have an Echo smart display or a Fire TV, it can instantly pull up a live video feed to show you who or what is close. The new tool will work with Ring, Google Nest, and Abode camera doorbells and security cameras. With other brands potentially adding the capability thanks to an Amazon API.

Will soon be available for the Google Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Floodlight, Nest Doorbell (battery), Abode IOTA, and Abode Outdoor Camera. How to connect your smart display to your video doorbell
If a fee is charged by the camera manufacturer for a person or package detection, you must pay it in order for the feature to work. Ring users will require a Ring Protect plan (starting at $3 per month) and Abode users will need an Abode plan (starting at $7 per month) to detect people; Google does not charge for this service.
Many video doorbells that interact with Alexa can currently announce when someone presses the doorbell on linked Echo speakers, while Ring doorbells can put up a live feed on an Echo Show or Fire TV. Motion detection is also possible with some security cameras. However, with these new features, you can now do all of this for a single person or package. It ought to be beneficial.
